Documentation

Masanchara helps merchants run sales, manage stock, track credit, and close the business day with the app that is actually installed on the device.

Setup & security

Backups & data portability

Why backups matter

Masanchara keeps the business data locally on the device and provides explicit backup and restore flows. The most important rule is simple: keep at least one verified copy of the database away from the device itself.

Export a backup

  1. Open the app's settings area.
  2. Find the backup and restore controls.
  3. Export the full database, or use a quick backup if the app presents that option.
  4. Save the created file to a trusted location such as a USB drive, email attachment, shared drive, or cloud folder.

The exported file is a SQLite database archive, and the app also supports validated backup archives for recovery workflows.

Restore a backup

Restoring replaces the active local database with the selected backup. This is not a merge; it is a full replacement of the working store data. Before you restore, confirm that you are using the correct backup and that you have already made a current copy of the live database if you need to keep it.

Important limits

  • The app only replaces data after the restore flow has validated the incoming archive and confirmed the operator's action.
  • A restored database is only as trustworthy as the backup you imported; do not restore a file from an unknown or unverified source.
  • Restricted mode can still allow read-only access and export pathways, but writing new business data remains blocked while the device is in a restricted state.

Recommended practice

  • Back up after the daily close and after major changes such as stocktake, supplier payments, or large customer credit activity.
  • Store at least one copy off-device.
  • Test the restore path on a safe copy before relying on it during a disruption.
