Opening & closing the day
Selling needs an open day and an open shift
Masanchara organises trading into business days and cashier shifts. When you tap Sell on the Transact screen:
- If no business day is open, the app takes you to Open day first.
- If the day is open but you have no shift, it takes you to Open shift, where you count the opening float.
- Once both are open, the till opens.
This is why the till sometimes opens on a different screen: it's asking for the step that's missing, not refusing the sale.
Held sales
You can park an unfinished sale and resume it later. A held sale posts nothing to stock or the ledger until it is tendered. The status strip at the top of the app shows how many sales are held.
Closing the shift and the day
From Home, use Close shift at the end of a cashier's session and Close day when trading stops. Closing asks for a blind cash count: you count the drawer by denomination and submit, and only then does the app show the expected amount and the variance. A large variance needs a reason before it can be saved, so overs and shorts are on record rather than absorbed.
Day and shift close are included on every plan. Day and shift reports are under Reports.
Recommended practice
- Resolve or void held sales before closing the day.
- Make a backup after the day close — see Backups & data portability.
