Masanchara helps merchants run sales, manage stock, track credit, and close the business day with the app that is actually installed on the device.

Getting started

Getting around the app

The bottom menu

After you sign in with your PIN, the Android app shows a bottom menu with up to five sections. Each one groups related work instead of giving every screen its own tab:

  • Transact — day-to-day work, organised as three cards: Sell (the till), Stock (products, stock-in and adjustments, plus Categories and Stock take under More) and Money (expenses, plus Cash movements, Petty cash and Bank deposits under More). Each card has an Open button and a Learn button that explains what the action posts to your books.
  • Stakeholders — Customers and Suppliers in one place. The menu on the Suppliers side also leads to purchase orders and supplier payables; the Customers side leads to receivables ageing.
  • Reports — the reporting dashboard: sales trend, top categories, cash flow, financial statements, margins, ageing, shrinkage and the audit and integrity screens.
  • User Management — staff accounts, roles and PINs.
  • Control — settings: approvals, price books, accounting setup, backups, app lock, session timeout, printer and print queue, notifications, device health, barcode scanner and keyboard shortcuts.

On a tablet or any screen at least 600 pixels wide, the same sections appear as a side rail instead of a bottom bar. If a role ever has more than five sections, the fifth slot becomes More and opens the rest in a sheet.

The top strip

Above every section there is a thin strip that stays put while you move around:

  • a Home button — Home is no longer a bottom-menu tab, so this is how you get back to it;
  • the status strip — held sales, ledger integrity, how old your last backup is, and printer or scanner status;
  • Search (owners and analysts) — one search across products, sales, customers, suppliers, purchase orders and expenses.

Home shows your greeting and role, and the shortcuts for the current business day: sale history, expenses, closing the shift and closing the day.

What each role sees

The menu only shows sections the signed-in role can use, so two staff on the same device can see different menus:

  • Owner — every section.
  • Cashier — Transact only: Sell, Stock take, and the cash, petty-cash and bank-deposit screens.
  • Analyst — Stakeholders (Customers only) and Reports, plus Search.

A cashier can't open the full Stock or Money screens, but can still reach Stock take and the cash, petty-cash and bank-deposit screens, so those cards stay available to them.

Plan locks are separate from roles

Your role decides whether you can see a screen. Your plan decides whether the screen is unlocked. A screen your plan doesn't include opens an Upgrade screen instead — see Plans, trial & feature locks.
